  • Features of badass, thought-provoking, inspiring, and beautiful creations and projects made by trans people.
  • Good news, hopeful possibilities, and reasons to celebrate, no matter what else is happening in the world.
  • Opportunities to get involved for both trans folks and cis allies.

Our story:

I (Jin, he/him) started ATJ back in February 2025, when our inboxes started to fill up with a lot of doom and gloom. Legislative attacks against trans people had been mounting for years, but got markedly worse with the current administration. Meanwhile, I saw so much ongoing joy and creativity in my own trans community that was not reflected in any mass media.

I decided to fight back by offering our community's nervous systems a narrative rewrite, focused on trans joy. As the creator of Trans News That Doesn't Suck and I wrote in a collaborative post, joy is an antidote to apathy, the evolutionary bias toward negativity, and the focus on mere survival, rather than the right of all trans people to thrive and live full, beautiful lives.

Every month, we publish a beautiful, co-created issue full of anonymous joy submissions, as well as features of trans creatives and projects — everything from major books published by trans authors to community artists who create just because they love to.
